The Faraway Nearby 2018
Production assistant: Mathew Felix
Situated along the walking path on the southern point of Ontario Place, The Faraway Nearby is an installation that emphasizes the horizon line of Lake Ontario. The horizon itself represents the limits of our perception, and at certain vantage points, the tops of the concrete bases of the sculpture align with the horizon line in the distance, harmonizing the foreground with the background. There are very few occasions living in the city to experience the openness of the horizon without any visual disruptions and through this installation, I wanted the sculpture to enhance this feature, create an inviting, meditative space.
